Ontario GPS map FAQ Ontario Screenshots

Q: What GPS receivers can be loaded with the Ontario GPS maps ?

A: The maps can be uploaded in compatible GARMIN ® GPS receivers that allow the upload of maps. Because the maps are highly detailed, newer receivers with colour screens are best suited to use these maps. If you would like to be notified if and when we have maps compatible with other makes of GPS receivers, send an email to Andrew at sales@canadianmaps.ca

Q: Are the maps better than GARMIN Topo Canada ?

A: "Better" depends on your requirements. Each of our maps covers a smaller area but offers more detailed coverage of the area. A picture is worth a thousand words so...  see some screenshots.

Q: Why can't I see the contour lines after loading a map in my GPS ?

A: Make sure the details parameter in your GPS is set to "THE MOST DETAILS".

Q: What is the difference between a vector map and a raster map (paper map, numeric map) ?

A: A vector map allows zooming without any lost of image quality. Furthermore, it allows you to search for things (ex: lakes, rivers, etc). Vector maps also allow a larger quantity of information (ex: a vector map needs about 400k, the raster equivalent needs between 5MB and 30MB of memory space).

Q: What are the delays for delivery ?

A: Normally: Less than 24 hours (on business days) for most regions but on occasion up to 3 working days may be necessary.

Q: Can I damage my GPS with your maps ?

A: No, a map is like a waypoint, a track or a route. It is NOT a program that the receiver is executing. It is data that the software in your receiver can read and display.

Q: Do I have to purchase another software to use your maps ?

A: No, everything you need is provided in an easy installation file.

Q: Can I load your maps and GARMIN MapSource ® maps at the same time ?

A: Yes. You can load our maps by selecting them and Garmin maps in your MapSource software.

Q: What usage can be made with those maps ?

A: Those maps are ideal for:

bulletFishing
bulletForestry work
bulletATVing or snowmobiling
